Workflow Library

Operational workflows your team can build next.

The Workflow Library is a collection of focused automation ideas for asset-heavy teams. Each entry starts with a real operational signal, then shows the rule, workflow, system update, and outcome that could follow. Use it to find the first Blueprint worth scoping.

Built for asset-heavy operations. Written for teams choosing where to automate first.
What this is

A practical library of signals, rules, and workflows.

Most teams do not struggle because they lack ideas. They struggle because the ideas are too broad. “Automate maintenance.” “Improve logistics.” “Use AI in testing.” “Build a control tower.” Those are not starting points. A Blueprint starts smaller: one signal, one rule, one workflow, one system update, one measurable outcome. The Workflow Library helps teams see what that looks like in practice.

Browse by operation

Start with the operation you want to improve.

Asset Intelligence

Turn asset warnings, risk thresholds, and condition changes into maintenance, inspection, dispatch, and evidence workflows.

Supply Chain Control Tower

Turn SLA risks, route delays, dwell time, fulfilment exceptions, and carrier performance signals into routing, owner, and customer-update workflows.

  • Shipment dwell threshold crossed Planned
  • SLA breach risk rising Planned
  • Cold chain temperature deviation Planned
  • Carrier delay pattern detected Planned
  • Inventory exception affecting fulfilment Planned

Manufacturing Operations

Turn line drift, quality exceptions, OEE leakage, batch conditions, and process deviations into approval, hold/release, maintenance, and audit workflows.

  • Process drift outside tolerance Planned
  • Batch hold condition triggered Planned
  • OEE loss pattern detected Planned
  • Quality exception requiring approval Planned
  • Line stoppage risk rising Planned

Testing Intelligence

Turn test deviations, early performance signals, borderline results, and confidence thresholds into approval, hold/release, evidence, and lab-capacity workflows.

  • Energy test trends toward likely pass Planned
  • Borderline test result requires review Planned
  • Test bay blocked by pending decision Planned
  • Compliance evidence incomplete Planned
  • Batch release approval pending Planned

Energy & Utilities

Turn forecast changes, demand shifts, grid signals, generation shortfalls, meter exceptions, and asset warnings into operational workflows.

  • Demand forecast deviation Planned
  • Generation shortfall risk Planned
  • Grid load imbalance Planned
  • Meter exception detected Planned
  • Outage response workflow needed Planned

EV Charging Networks

Turn charger faults, uptime risks, utilisation drops, power irregularities, and maintenance signals into service, routing, escalation, and evidence workflows.

  • Charger uptime risk detected Planned
  • Voltage irregularity found Planned
  • Utilisation drops below threshold Planned
  • Repeated session failure pattern Planned
  • Maintenance dispatch needed Planned
Entry format

Every workflow entry answers the same five questions.

The library is not a blog archive. It is a working catalogue of operational workflows that can be scoped, built, connected, and handed over.

01

Signal

What changed inside the operation? Example: bearing temperature crosses the defined threshold for three consecutive intervals.

02

Rule

What should the system check before work moves? Example: check asset criticality, failure history, operating context, and service window.

03

Workflow

What should happen next? Example: create a maintenance work order, assign the owner, check parts availability, route approval if downtime is required.

04

System update

Where should the result be written back? Example: update the EAM work order, asset status, notification channel, and operations log.

05

Outcome

What should improve or be recorded? Example: earlier maintenance action, reduced downtime risk, documented decision trail, evidence captured for review.

Sample workflow

Bearing temperature threshold exceeded

A condition monitoring system identifies rising bearing temperature on a critical asset. The signal is already visible. The Blueprint defines what should happen next.

Signal

Bearing temperature crosses the defined threshold for three consecutive 15-minute intervals.

Rule

Check asset criticality, operating load, failure history, spare part availability, maintenance window, downtime impact, and approval requirement.

Workflow

Classify severity, create a work order in EAM or ERP, assign the maintenance owner, check technician and parts availability, notify operations, route approval if downtime is required, and log the action and outcome.

System update

Writes back to the EAM/ERP work order, asset record, notification tools, operations log, and audit or BI layer.

The team gets a maintenance workflow that moves from signal to work order, assignment, approval, and evidence logging.

How to use it

Use the library to choose your first Blueprint.

The best first Blueprint usually has four traits: it happens often, it touches systems you already use, it has a clear next step, and it creates value when the workflow moves earlier.

For operations leaders

Find workflows that can improve response time, asset uptime, SLA performance, test capacity, or operational control.

For CIOs and technology leaders

Find focused automation builds that can sit on top of existing ERP, EAM, MES, TMS, WMS, BI, data warehouse, lab, IoT, or notification systems.

For transformation teams

Turn broad automation ideas into scoped workflow candidates.

For maintenance, logistics, testing, and quality teams

Identify where work is already being handled manually and where a Blueprint could turn it into a repeatable workflow.

Featured workflows

Good first Blueprints usually look like this.

Asset warning to work order

A condition change becomes a maintenance workflow with work order creation, owner assignment, parts check, and outcome logging.

SLA risk to reroute

A shipment or route risk becomes a rerouting workflow with cost comparison, owner notification, customer update, and TMS write-back.

Test deviation to approval

A test signal becomes an approval workflow with confidence scoring, hold/release logic, engineer review, and audit evidence.

Process drift to quality action

A process deviation becomes a quality workflow with escalation, hold condition, investigation task, and compliance record.

Forecast change to operating adjustment

A forecast signal becomes an operating workflow with rule checks, owner routing, system update, and performance trail.
